Dutch below English Picture this: a room in Rozet, the bustling library in Arnhem, filled with more than twenty people from every corner of the Netherlands, from places like Grave, Arnhem, Nijmegen, Zutphen, Balk, Leeuwarden, Assen, and even as far as Goes. These individuals come from diverse countries such as Yemen, Egypt, Russia, Syria, Turkey, Kurdistan, and Sierra Leone. They are refugees, residents of asylum centers in the Netherlands. They are 'niemanders,' and they all have one thing in common: they have a story to tell
Within this diverse group, you'll find journalists, artists, writers, photographers, and creative minds coming together as the editorial team of The Niemanders Gazette, both a printed newspaper and a website. They all worked hard and passionately this past summer to share their stories.

What can you expect in The Niemanders Gazette? A variety of engaging content, including an article about 'waiting' in an asylum center, a photo essay highlighting the daily life in an asylum center, a profound analysis of the Turkish elections, and compelling stories depicting the dangerous reality of fleeing. But also, touching and hopeful stories of ambitious residents of asylum centers, full of achievements, joy, love, and sorrow. You'll find facts and figures, but also a fascinating glimpse into life in an asylum center and portraits of the professional lives of refugees before they had to flee. Launch
On November 23rd, it's happening. The Niemanders Gazette, printed in an edition of 10,000 copies, will become a reality. In the presence of Alderman Paul Smeulders of Finance, Housing, and Refugees, we will present the very first copy to none other than the 'niemanders' themselves: the editorial team of the Gazette. Then, there will be ample time to explore the newspaper extensively, accompanied by live music, snacks, and drinks at Rozet, Arnhem. The celebration begins at 4:00 PM. Do you want to be there? About The Niemanders
Arnhem-based artists, singer-songwriters, and musicians Rocco Ostermann and Wout Kemkens embarked on an intriguing quest in 2019, visiting prisons to discover remarkable stories and talented musicians. In 2023, they are back, this time focusing on asylum centers across the Netherlands together with a third member: Rick Wiegerinck. Together with participants from asylum centers, they create remarkable music, an engaging website, an inspiring podcast, and now, a real newspaper. They push creative boundaries, explore new methods, styles, and compositions, and venture beyond the confines of traditional media, spanning from newspapers to podcasts and even live music festivals.

De Niemanders Gazette Launch Party!
Stel je voor: een kamer in Rozet, de bruisende bibliotheek in Arnhem, gevuld met meer dan twintig mensen vanuit alle hoeken van Nederland, van Grave tot Arnhem, Nijmegen, Zutphen, Balk, Leeuwarden, Assen, en zelfs helemaal uit het verre Goes. Deze individuen komen uit uiteenlopende landen zoals Jemen, Egypte, Rusland, Syrië, Turkije, Koerdistan en Sierra Leone. Ze zijn vluchtelingen, bewoners van asielzoekerscentra in Nederland. Ze zijn 'niemanders,' en ze hebben allemaal één ding gemeen: ze hebben een verhaal te vertellen.
Binnen deze diverse groep bevinden zich journalisten, kunstenaars, tekstschrijvers, fotografen en creatieve geesten die samen de redactie vormen van De Niemanders Gazette, zowel een gedrukte krant als een website waar ze afgelopen zomer met passie aan hebben gewerkt om hun verhalen te vertellen.

Wat staat je te wachten in De Niemanders Gazette? Een scala aan boeiende content, zoals een artikel over het 'wachten' in een AZC, een foto-essay dat het dagelijkse leven in een AZC belicht, een diepgaande analyse van de Turkse verkiezingen, en aangrijpende verhalen die de gevaarlijke realiteit van vluchten weergeven. Maar ook ontroerende en hoopvolle verhalen van ambitieuze bewoners van AZC’s, vol met prestaties, vreugde, liefde en verdriet. Je zult er feiten en cijfers vinden, maar ook een boeiende inkijk krijgen in het leven in een AZC en portretten van het professionele leven van vluchtelingen voordat zij moesten vluchten. Wat zou jij doen als jij de regie had?
Lancering
Op 23 november is het zover. De Niemanders Gazette, gedrukt in een oplage van 10.000 exemplaren, wordt werkelijkheid. In aanwezigheid van wethouder Paul Smeulders van Financiën, Wonen en Vluchtelingen, zullen wij het allereerste exemplaar overhandigen aan niemand minder dan de 'niemanders' zelf: de redactie van de Gazette. Daarna is er ruimte om de krant uitgebreid te bekijken, onder het genot van livemuziek, hapjes en drankjes in Rozet, Arnhem. Het feest begint om 16.00 uur. Wil je erbij zijn? Over De Niemanders
De Arnhemse kunstenaars, singer-songwriters en muzikanten Rocco Ostermann en Wout Kemkens startten in 2019 een boeiende zoektocht waarbij ze gevangenissen bezochten om opmerkelijke verhalen en getalenteerde muzikanten te ontdekken. In 2023 zijn ze terug en ditmaal richten ze hun aandacht op AZC's door heel Nederland samen met derde lid Rick Wiegerinck. Samen met deelnemers uit asielzoekerscentra creëren ze indrukwekkende muziek, een boeiende website, een inspirerende podcast en nu ook een echte krant. Ze dagen creatieve grenzen uit, verkennen nieuwe methoden, stijlen en samenstellingen, en begeven zich buiten de gebaande paden van traditionele media, variërend van kranten tot podcasts en zelfs live muziekfestivals.
