Social Dutch 1

Are you from abroad and live in or around Arnhem and would you like to learn to speak Dutch with your neighbors, colleagues or fellow students, or have a simple conversation with your partner's family? Would you also like to learn something about what exactly is typically Dutch? Then our Social Dutch courses are really something for you. The most important thing about these courses is to learn to communicate in Dutch in simple, everyday situations.

After this course you will be able to:
- introduce yourself/someone else;
- say where you come from;
- asking where someone is from;
- spell your name, address, place of residence;
- asking and telling what time it is;
- ask and tell when something happens;
- make appointments;
- ask about arrival and departure times;
- ask where the bus stops;
- talking about (your favorite) food and drinks;
- say what you like/dislike;
- having a conversation in a shop or at the market;
- asking about the price of things.
- talk about your house

After this course you will know:
- the numbers up to 100;
- the days of the week;
- the months of the year.
- the colors
- the words of the food
- the words of the house

Grammar is secondary to communication skills and vocabulary. Only the basics of grammar such as sentence structure, verb conjugation in the present tense, negation, question structure and pronouns are covered. The course also focuses on the pronunciation of Dutch and interesting aspects of Dutch culture.

If you have attended 80% of the time and have done all the homework, you can proceed to Social Dutch 2 after Social Dutch 1

The courses are on Wednesday and start on November 19th 2025.
We align with Arnhem's school holidays and Rozet's evening opening hours.
