Are you from abroad and live in or around Arnhem and would you like to learn to speak Dutch with your neighbors, colleagues or fellow students, or have a simple conversation with your partner's family? Would you also like to learn something about what exactly is typically Dutch? Then our Social Dutch courses are really something for you. The most important thing about these courses is to learn to communicate in Dutch in simple, everyday situations.

After this course you will be able to:
- Checkout in a store
- Read and understand advertisements in brochures or on Marktplaats
- Buy devices
- Respond to an advertisement in an email
- Shopping for a party
- Send a package
- Request information about the library
- Open a bank account
- Ask for and receive information at the town hall
- Send an email to the municipality with a question
- Understanding drug information
- Have a telephone conversation with the GP post
- Describe complaints at the General practitioner
- Ask and answer questions about healthy living
- Report sick to work or school via email
- Have conversations with people on the street
- Talk about personal matters
- Describe your family
- Talk about a relationship
- Ask how things are going
- Ask about problems
- Write a piece about your grandfather or grandmother

After this course you will know:
- The words and verbs associated with buying and selling
- The words and verbs associated with sending mail
- The words and verbs needed for a conversation at the municipality
- The words and verbs that are needed at the GP, the pharmacy, and the hospital
- The words and verbs needed to talk about your family and your personal life

Grammar is secondary to communication skills and vocabulary. You will learn more about the past tense, the main sentence and subordinate sentence, the first conjunctions, and the use of 'te'. The course also focuses on the pronunciation of Dutch and interesting aspects of Dutch culture.

If you have attended 80% of the time and have done all the homework, you can proceed to Social Dutch 4 after Social Dutch 3. 

The courses are on Tuesday and start on November 18th 2025.
We align with Arnhem's school holidays and Rozet's evening opening hours.
