"Deze compilatie maakt duidelijk dat Souther een kei is in het componeren en uitvoeren van up-tempo countryrockers en fraaie, verfijnde ballads die niet zouden hebben misstaan op welk Eagles-album dan ook. Hij was dan ook de grote man achter de schermen bij die groep." (Heaven) Souther schreef songs voor Linda Rondstadt, met wie hij een relatie had, en speelde in haar band. Ze is hier te horen in het duet "If You Have Crying Eyes. Ook schreef hij mee aan Eagles-klassiekers als "New Kid In Town". Met ex-Byrd Chris Hillman en ex-Poco-frontman Richie Furay vormde hij het onderschatte Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. Men is zo wijs geweest van deze bescheiden supergroep enige songs op te nemen op deze compilatie. De rest komt van Southers vier soloplaten, die verschenen tussen 1972 en 1984. Deze staan vol staaltjes fraai gezongen en delicaat gearrangeerde westcoast-countryrock. Na 1984 is hij muzikaal nauwelijks actief, maar is hij wel af en toe als acteur te zien in films en TV-series.
