To celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Jams final studio album and to mark the 30th anniversary of the bands startling split, Universal release The Gift in Deluxe Edition. "The Gift", released in March 1982 was The Jams final studio album, which Weller strove to bring as close to perfection as was humanly possible. Plenty of its songs number among The Jams best. This was the bands only No 1 album and marked the departure from the classic Jam sound to a more soul-influenced style, ushering in Wellers ideas for the Style Council. It includes the classic No. 1 hit "Town Called Malice" plus other highlights "Running On The Spot" and "Carnation" all still featured in Wellers live sets today. (bron: Universal) De tweede schijf bevat B-kanten, singles en demo's, die nog meer Wellers steeds verder ontluikende soulliefde laten horen, middles covers van "Move On Up" (Curtis Mayfield) en "War" (Edwin Starr). De CD sluit af met een vroege demo van het latere Style Council-nummer "Solid Bond In Your Heart".
