"While much of Tim Story's music is considered ambient/experimental, "Collected" presents his most melodic and beautiful pieces. You truly couldn't find a better album for contemplation, meditation, or relaxation. I grouped the pieces into several categories. Tracks 1,3,6,9,15,18. - Beautiful piano/oboe/cello melodies played delicately over a bed of minimal yet lush strings and synths. Tracks 2,4,11,19 - More ambient than the first group, these tracks are primarily synth-based, and are both relaxing and often melancholy. Tracks 5,7,10,12,14,17 - The "classical" tracks. Though they still maintain Tim Story's signature style, the melodies and arrangements are either based on, or resemble classical compositions. Tracks 8,13,16 - New tracks. The order of the tracklist creates enough variety to keep the album interesting. That being said, the entire album is very mellow, even sleep-inducing (in a good way!).
