Esoteric Recordings rerelease of the 1978 solo album from former Traffic member Jim Capaldi. "The Contender was Jims first album for Polydor Records and the title track of the album featured in the film of the same name and featured the late Paul Kossoff (of Free and Back Street Crawler) on lead guitar. In America the album appeared in a different form under the title "Daughter Of The Night with a slightly different track listing which included additional material not released in the UK. These tracks are featured as bonus material on this expanded and remastered reissue. This Esoteric Recordings release has been newly remastered from the original master tapes and features a lavish illustrated booklet with new essay that restores the original album artwork.
