Koppeling, door het heruitgavenlabel BGO, van twee relatief soul-getinte albums uit het oeuvre van de Puerto-Ricaanse zanger. De album verschenen oorspronkelijk in 1968 resp. 1974. Allmusic over "For My Love... Mother Music": "Produced and arranged in collaboration with the renowned Stax guitarist Steve Cropper, this album remains one of José Feliciano's most soulful and appealing LPs, moving seamlessly between earthy, Memphis-flavored Latin-funk and sun-kissed L.A. grooves. Credit also a winningly eclectic batch of songs that includes a brooding rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Blame It On The Sun" and a lithe, knowing version of Steely Dan's "Dirty Work." Cropper's presence also seems to push Feliciano to new peaks as a guitarist: the virtuoso "The Gypsy" is stunning." (Jason Ankeny)
