Stand out track is "Variation on the Misery" with a great solo by Steve Grossman followed with a blistering guitar outing by Hiram Bullock (outstanding support also from drummer Omar Hakim). "Jelly Roll" is another fine track which includes an off-beat vocal by Marvin Peterson along with his fine trumpet work." (Vinyl Word)
