"Looking back, that album proves to have been a pivotal point in Whitesnake's career. For the last time, boogie-woogie influences were discernible in the heavy blues-rock, and the music still sounded purely English (although the blues influences did, of course, come from the US). However, this album also features the first signs of American-inspired hard rock. The European version of the album was performed by the classic Whitesnake lineup: Mel Galley and Micky Moody on guitars, Colin Hodgkinson on bass, Cozy Powell on drums, and Jon Lord on keyboards. For the American market, the album was partially re-recorded; the guitar parts were played by John Sykes (formerly of Tygers of Pan Tang and Thin Lizzy), the bass by Neil Murray, and the keyboards by Bill Cuomo. Thanks in part to Keith Olsen's mixing, the American version became a hit and sold four million copies." (Written In Music)
