"Both Crispell and Jormin have a long history with ECM with the pianist first appearing on the label in 1997 and the bassist in 1993, but the relationship and influence go back further. Crispell first heard the bassist in Stockholm in 1992 and says of Jormin 'When I heard Anders playing, it touched a chord in me that resonated strongly' and credits this encounter with her absorbing the 'aesthetic of space, beauty and tenderness' of which there is plenty in this beautiful recording. The music, and album as a whole is carefully programmed to balance improvisation and composition to the extent that the improvised sound composed and vice versa. Within these remarkable and compact pieces, only two of the eleven tracks exceed the five minute mark the two musicians create a sound world that is full of melody and silence, and it is the space between the notes that make the resulting music so engaging."
