"Dazzling with an expansive variety of material and styles, "Weller At The BBC Vol. 2" compiled his radio appearances that took place from 2008 to 2024. Instead of working in chronological order, the playlist jumps around, beginning with a pair of subdued tracks (the somber "Gravity" and a stunning rendition of Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?") before getting into rowdy and raved-up songs from a 2008 concert broadcast like the barn-burning "From The Floorboards Up" and the dramatic, tango-ready "One Bright Star." Later in the collection, more footage from this concert finds Weller and his band ripping through one of the Jam's most beloved tunes, "The Eaton Rifles". Several selections from a 2019 performance with the London Metropolitan Orchestra and Hannah Peel are a highlight of the collection, ranging from more upbeat bossa nova-styled tracks to moody balladry like "Aspects," where the large orchestration lifts Weller's sad songwriting to beautiful, bittersweet heights."
