Ooit liet men de fans lang wachten op nieuw materiaal, maar dit album verschijnt koud een jaar na "Reise Reise". De groep klinkt bij tijd en wijle bombastischer dan ooit en steek daarmee zelfs orkestrale gothic metal naar de kroon. Er is nu overigens ook plaats voor melancholieke momenten en een heus duet met een zangeres. Daarnaast is het Spaanstalige "Te Quiero Puta!" opvallend te noemen. De DVD is een bonusschijfje van een kwartier: een voorbode op de full length DVD "Rammstein On Tour 2005".
"The original album has been remixed for 5.1 Surround Sound on SACD. This opens up the sound, providing greater clarity and separation. This might not necessarily be a good thing in the industrial metal style, but it works well here, because of all those sudden edits that take the music from a loud, noisy sound picture down to a solo vocal or acoustic guitar. About the extra's: "Burn" comes from the soundtrack to "Natural Born Killers"; "Closer (Precursor)," "Closer to God," and "Memorabilia" from the "Closer To God" maxi-single; "Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now)," "Hurt (Quiet)," and "The Downward Spiral (The Bottom)" from the "Further Down the Spiral" remix EP; the cover of Soft Cell's "Memorabilia" from the "March Of The Pigs" maxi-single; and the cover of Joy Division's "Dead Souls" from the soundtrack to "The Crow". "Op hun tweede album is Orgel Vreten in alle opzichten gegroeid. Dit Nederlandse kwintet rond Hammond-organisten Thijs Schrijnemakers en Darius Timmer heeft sinds de oprichting in 2011 gewerkt aan een solide livereputatie. Met de gierende, scheurende en trillende Hammond-duels tussen Schrijnemakers en Timmers zetten zij moeiteloos iedere zaal op zijn kop. Maar de band kan ook meedogenloos rocken en swingen, zoals te horen is op debuut Komrad (2015). Na wat personeelswisselingen en de toevoeging van sousafonist en zanger Arno Bakker deed de band het even wat kalmer aan om zich te bezinnen op een opvolger. De Man & Zijn Machine klinkt zodoende doordachter dan Komrad. Spacey melodieën domineren, soms zelfs knipogend naar de vintage buitenaardse producties van Joe Meek. "Genesis, het begin der tijden, Nexus het connecteren der dingen, samengebald in een concept over dat het in 2045 onmogelijk zal zijn om het verschil tussen gemachineerde mensen en mensgeworden machines te zien. Livedrummer Mike Heller en oud-Static X-gediende Tony Campos bevolken de nieuwe ritmesessie. Deel één is een bombardement van vermorzelende, machinaal dichtgespijkerde basdrumriffcombo's met futuristische mechaniek. Dino heefteen verse bazookalading rifflood op zn achtsnarige monster gelegd en ontsteekt die in een massieve geluidsdijk. Ook present zijn de titaniumverwringende rebellie-uitstoot en cleane regenereerzang van Burton. In dat laatste valt op dat er een andere sfeer heerst. De melodieën zijn optimistischer en er zijn bijna victorieuze, zonnige bazuinsynths (hoor ook de verbluffend buffelende basdrums eens gaan tijdens die titeltrack trouwens). Flink opgeblazen Gothic-achtige, Duitstalige RAMM-muziek. Als Laibach met metal-impulsen. De zang is ook super-Laibach-achtig. Plaat stamt uit '95, maar wordt twee jaar later pas veel gedraaid. Resultaat: te zien op Pinkpop '97.
"Songs from The Sound of Music, amusingly rendered in stentorian synthpop and the guttural vocals of Milan Fras. This already high concept was sent into the ionosphere by their decision to debut it in North Korea in 2015, making them the first western rock band to play the country. The notion that isolated North Korean culture vultures would presume western rock bands are typified by gruff, bearded Slovenians declaring their love for cream-coloured ponies and crisp apple strudels is hilarious, and Laibach get points for this masterful bit of culture jamming alone. On record, their covers are stirring, funny and thought provoking. The arrangements offer moments of beauty like the haze of harmony that conjures Edelweisss field of flowers under a growing shadow of violence, while Lonely Goatherd has every ounce of its catchiness wrung out of it via a glam-rock stomp." The collection is steeped both visually and aurally in the scary monsters, sexy women, and schlock horror images that have always adorned Zombie's death's-head calling card; from a strictly musical standpoint, his turgid industrial sludge and beyond-the-grave vocals benefit greatly from the set's liberal editing. That's because Zombie has always had one fabulously filthy gear, and his pedal is always scraping the metal. Collaborations with Alice Cooper and Howard Stern approach the proto-industrial grind of KMFDM; and kooky covers of "I'm Your Boogieman" and "Brickhouse" run the originals' disco beat through a freaky fun house filled with lurid porn samples. Zombie is a likeable, talented creative with a flair for reinvention. Like so much of his source material, his work isn't meant for deep contemplation. "Mythmaker is the tenth studio album by electro-industrial band Skinny Puppy. It was released on January 30, 2007 through Synthetic Symphony. Lead vocalist Nivek Ogre said the band took a simplified approach, but that it was a difficult record to make. It charted on a number of billboard charts, and received mostly positive reviews, with critics focusing on whether it was stylistically similar to previous albums."
