`Mighty Sparrow (1935) is het pseudoniem van Slinger Francisco, één van de belangrijkste artiesten binnen de calypso-muziek. Sparrow dankt zijn bijnaam Calypso King Of The World aan de vele wedstrijden tussen calypsozangers die hij won. Vanaf het midden van de jaren vijftig, op het hoogtepunt van zijn carrière, trad Sparrow ook op in Engeland en de Verenigde Staten. Mighty Sparrows teksten spelen vaak in op de actualiteit. "Het is onbegrijpelijk dat dit album uit 1975 door de critici als lichte teleurstelling werd ervaren. Het album zou slechts meer van hetzelfde bevatten (in lijn dus van voorgangers "Song Cycle" (1968) en "Discover America" (1972) dus), zij het in een commercieel aanlokkelijker popjasje. Achteraf gezien kan de blasé ontvangst alleen te wijten zijn aan moedwillige kortzichtigheid. Het titelstuk en "City On The Hill" behoren zelfs tot het beste wat Parks oit heeft opgenomen, om van de volstrekt originele calypso-funk van "Cannon in D" nog maar te zwijgen. Voor het eerst verkocht de man zowaar een paar platen (vooral in Nederland), maar het zou vervolgens tot 1984 duren alvorens hij met "Jump" zijn carrière als zelfstandig platenartiest weer zou hervatten. Die lange pauze was echter wel zo attent van hem. Wanneer je platen maakt die in de regel hun tijd 10 tot 20 jaar vooruit zijn, is het fijn als we die tijd krijgen om eraan te wennen, nietwaar?"
