" Genuinely ahead of its time, this album is a full dive into wordless vocals and Brazilian stylistic experimentation. Originally, planned to be released with lyrics and biting commentary against the Brazilian military rule, the censors deemed it too disrespectful that they refused to let Milton release it. Rather than scrap the whole album altogether, Milton decided to re-record the vocals using various vocal techniques and experimentation (abstracting the lyrics to avoid censorship). The album had the fundamental support of the melodic percussion of the Minas Gerais group Uakti, along with the usual robust orchestrations. Nascimento had a hit with "Canção da América," but several songs must be mentioned for their strong melodic qualities, like the folklore-tinged "Peixinhos do Mar," "Sueño Con Serpientes" (with Mercedes Sosa), Villa-Lobos' "Cantiga," and "Sentinela" (with singer Nana Caymmi showcasing her strong, personal voice timbre similar to Nascimento's, which serves wonderfully to convey the idea of religious devotion)." Enkele jaren voor haar dood werkte de beroemde zangeres met Braziliaanse muzikanten als Milton Nascimento aan dit zwoele latinjazz-album. Vaughans stem had intussen een navenant ander (donkerder) timbre dan in haar topjaren en ze zingt ook lager, maar ook op leeftijd geeft ze schwung en zeggingskracht aan de stukken die o.a. van Nascimento's hand zijn. De albumproductie was in handen van Sergio Mendes.

"Corazón Americano: El Gran Concierto" is een selectie van hoogtepunten van een live-concert dat plaatsvond op 21 december 1984 in het Argentijnse voetbalstadion Vélez Sarfield. Zangeres Mercedes Sosa trad op, samen met de Argentijnse folk-rockzanger León Gieco, de Braziliaan Milton Nascimento en de Argentijnse musicus Gustavo Santaolalla (alleen in het eerste lied). In het tekstboekje staan Duitse vertalingen van de teksten.

Met o.a. Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Eumir Deodato en vele, vele andere grote namen uit jazz- en latinmuziek. Veelal subtiele, transparante bossanova met fijnzinnige details met af en toe een wat al te zoet gearrangeerde ballad.
Album uit 1997. Na een lange periode van stilistische verwateringen betekende dit album een terugkeer naar puurdere Braziliaanse muziek. De zanger gebruikt o.a. uitgebreide typisch Braziliaanse percussie (zoals we kennen van o.a. Olodum).
