"It actually works better than it sounds. They are very energetic for a pair of sixty year olds and are still totally in love with music and performing. Plus, they know each other well, their on/off relationship dating back to Almonds recovery from a coma after a motorbike accident in 2004. Marc never had the best voice but he brings a colourful theatricality and a winking sense of cabaret. Jools uses the opportunity to move towards proper big band music. He plays less boogie-woogie and more swing, controlling his restless left hand and allowing his right to flourish. At some points, somewhat unbelievably, he plays fewer notes than he could and allows the horn section to hog the spotlight, blowing itself nicely purple. The real stars of the Orchestra are the horns, all eleven of them. De programmeurs van De Lokerse Feesten, in het Vlaamse Lokeren, maken nog wel eens bijzondere keuzes, voor artiesten die door de smaakpolitie als 'fout' of 'kitsch' of 'uit de tijd' worden beschouwd. En het gebeurt dan nog wel eens dat dat dat een voorbode blijkt voor een (her)waardering. Zo is er vaak plaats voor het voor de opkomst van 'yacht rock' fout beschouwde AOR. En Chic trad er al op, ver voor de algemene Nile Rodgers-herwaardering. Mark Almond kreeg alle bovenstaande negatieve labels wel eens. Toch zal iedereen "Tears Run Rings" en "Tainted Love" mee kunnen galmen. Dan doe je toch iets goed. Genoemde nummers behoren tot de uitsmijters van deze set, waarin nogal wat songs voorkomen die de Soft Cell-electro-gothpop-esthetiek van "Tainted Love" volgen. Zoals bijv. het toen nieuwe "One Big Soul", waarmee het concert opent. Dat er een Jacques Brel-cover ("Jacky" in dansbaar arrangement) op de setlist staat is bij Almond normaal, doch in België extra leuk. De DVD bevat ook een interview met Almond.
1999-album. Gelukkig nu eens geen tandglazuurbarstende kitsch. Per song een andere sound, vaak met electronische ritmes: vaak triphop-getint, maar ook chanson-achtig of met latin-ritmiek. Veelal weelderige arrangementen met o.a. strijkers.
Z'n dertiende studio-album. Met prachtige breedbeeld-arrangementen van de IJslandse soundtrack-componist Johann Johannson, die a la David Arnold een aangenaam-kitschy John Barry-achtig sound mengt met moderne triphoppy ritmes.
