"Op deze live-opname is een prominente rol weggelegd voor basklarinet. Een instrument welke je niet vaak hoort in de improvisatierol. Joris Roelofs haalt op deze plaat het onderste uit de kan wat dat betreft. Op de CD worden 4 stukken van Roelofs en drie standards gespeelt. Opvallend zijn de mooie open arrangementen waarin de opvallende verschijning van de basklarinet goed tot zijn recht komt. Heel bijzonder om een basklarinet zo fors te horen boppen. Vooral in de derde track "Lower Spaces", de naam zegt het al, wordt het instrument op indrukwekkende wijze ingezet. Boppen doet Joris Roelofs ook op de altsaxofoon - en wel als een bezetene. Indrukwekkend strak racet hij door razendsnelle bopthemas, soms alleen, soms unisono met de pianist. Het publiek gaat helemaal met ze mee wat leidt tot luide bijval en applaus.
