"Lê is often considered to be a fusion guitarist, and the reckless abandon of his solo on the fiery "Urbi" would certainly support that thought. But while he's capable of rapid-fire phrases and screaming bends, there's never a sense of excess. Even on the somewhat Metheny-esque "Isoar," Lê's clean-toned solo runs the gamut from the languid to the intense, building with purposeful intent and never resorting to pyrotechnics merely for the sake of it. There are few fusion guitarists who could switch gears to the Lê-Lande-McCandless trio of "Omero," where McCandless' soaring soprano saxophone solo is one of many high points". Zapping (2008)

"De titel van deze CD is woordspelig. De muziek van Frank Zappa speelt een grote rol, maar er wordt ook voortdurend heen en weer gezapt naar die van Thelonious Monk. Geen voor de hand liggende combinatie, maar de Italiaanse contrabassist Furio Di Castri zorgt ervoor dat het werkt. Samen met zijn sextet, waaronder Nguyen Lê op elektrische gitaar en trompettist Eric Vloeimans, aangevuld met de nodige elektronica, maakt hij er geslaagd knip- en plakwerk van, met Monk in het centrum, omringd door soul, rock, jazz, en alles wat er verder in de kast stond. Alleen Zappas "Twenty Small Cigars" wordt in zn geheel gespeeld, verder worden alle bekende themas kort aangestipt of gedeconstrueerd.
