Adventurous 8-course brunch of possibilities in nu-jazz RinneRadio is a legendary group comparable to Nuspirit Helsinki or Jazzanova. At times, they even easily exceed the vibe of the forementioned. With a heavy focus on sound design and streetwise compositions, they shine brightly when in their lounge mode or flirting with IDM. Tracks like Juju are a bit much for me, but I'm glad there aren't many of those. The last straw that drops my score is Daughters of Selofhad, which almost sounds like electro-swing predating the sound by a decade. The IDM influence leans on drum n bass. Especially the last track, Eir 2 v, is an absolutely amazing journey from ambient through chillout to drum n bass, with the saxophone serving ECM-style jazz melodies reminiscent of David Gilmour's painterly guitar style.
