Taken from a radio broadcast aired by WMMR FM, of a show performed at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia on 30th June 1987, this set clearly demonstrates why the legend of Stevie Ray and Double Trouble has been so enduring. Touring seven months after the release of his then last album, "Live Alive" - a live album which Vaughan himself was admittedly dissatisfied with due to its poor recording, lackluster playing and countless overdubs - this show finds the band on absolute top form. In addition, this is almost certainly the finest quality live audio recording available by this quite extraordinary performer, and includes such classics as "Couldn't Stand The Weather", "Scuttle Buttin'" and a staggering 14 minute rendition of "Life Without You". Each of the first three discs clock in at more than 75 minutes, progressing from 1977 to 1990 and emphasizing live material, from soundchecks and radio programs to arena-headlining gigs and three solo acoustic tunes from a 1990 MTV Unplugged episode. As music, though, it's uneven. The earliest and leanest cuts are a valuable supplement to Vaughan's discography. Yet sometimes these are too-long shuffles and boogies. The fourth disc is a DVD with five never-aired and never-issued performances from the television program Austin City Limits, recorded 1989; the 72-page booklet of essays, appreciative quotes from several dozen peers, and more are other bonuses."
