4 Albums uit de periode 1956-59 op 2 CD's. Als bron voor de CD-mastering zijn trouwens LP's gebruikt en dat is zo nu en dan duidelijk te horen. "Count 'm 88" was in 1956 het eerste album met z'n vernieuwde trio (bassist Israel Crosby en drummer Walter Perkins). Allmusic zegt erover: "The "Jamal sound," with its expert use of dynamics, close interplay, space and subtle surprises was very much in place. Well worth searching for." "But Not For Me" bevat een deel van de beroemde Pershing-opnamen, die in z'n geheel op een losse CD te leen zijn. Hier is Perkins vervangen door Vernell Fournier. Het album bevat een heuse hit in de vorm van "Poinciana", waar als extraatje ook een single-edit van is bijgevoegd. Vanaf dit moment (1958) was Jamal een begrip in de jazzwereld.
