Zangeres, afkomstig van de Kaap-Verdische eilanden. Haar muziek is vooral typisch Midden- en Zuid-Amerikaans: De dansritmes (salsa, tango, merengue, etc), de instrumentatie. Vooral in 't gitaarspel klinken de West-Afrikaanse banden nog door.
Elke keer dat Cesaria Evora de studio in ging met haar producer Jose da Silva maakten ze meer opnamen dan nodig waren voor een album. Iets meer dan een jaar na het overlijden van Cesaria in Mindelo op 17 december 2011, is uit dit extra materiaal een nieuw album gedestilleerd, met 13 nog niet eerder uitgebrachte tracks uit de periode 1997-2005. Het album, "Mãe Carinhosa" ('Moeder liefde'), bevat werk van alle favoriete schrijvers van de Diva. Het titelnummer is van Teofilo Chantre en is deels een coladera, maar dan gecombineerd met een latinritme. Van B. Leza zijn de prachtige mornas "Dor Di Sodade" en "Talvez". Op "Esperança", een lied van Nando da Cruz, horen we Manu Dibango op marimba. Ooit zong Evora vaak in Kaapverdische bars voor Spaanse zeelieden. De Spaans gezongen bolero "Dos Palavras" herinnert aan die tijd. Van oorsprong is het trouwens een Mexicaans lied, al in 1962 door Los Bribones vertolkt. Schijf 2 is een 70 min. lange DVD, met concertopnamen, gemaakt in mei 2010 in de Coliseu in Lissabon.
DVD that brings us the memorable images of the last concert of "the barefoot diva" in Portugal, May 8, 2010. One of the many shows during that year that Cize made around the world to present her final album, "Nha Sentimento". There are 18 songs in the concert Harmony selected for the DVD. Mornas and coladeiras of composers sung by Cize - Manuel d'Novas, Ti Goy, Nando da Cruz and Teofilo Chantre -in addition to Paulino Vieira, Tito Paris, Ramiro Mendes. A concert filled with moments of complicity. One of the most intense? The duet with Bonga in "Sodade" - the music of Zeferino that both became famous in the world. It was the last show that the diva did in the Portuguese capital, yet when her band was directed by Nando Andrade. The musician took place after the Khaly Angel, who accompanied Cize in the final concert of a career full of successes. Deze Kaap-Verdische diva maakt niet alleen gebruik van de Zuid-Afrikaanse muzikale traditie, maar put ook uit de Zuid-Amerikaanse muziek. De begeleidingsband bestaat dan ook voor een groot deel uit muzikanten uit dat werelddeel.
Opnamen van concerten uit de tournee die de Kaap-Verdische zangeres ondernam n.a.v. het verschijn van het album "Voz d'Amor" (2003). Warmbloedige, zacht-wiegende morna's, waarin we trekken ontwaren van West-Afrikaanse, Latijns-Amerikaanse en Portugese muziek.
