Concertregistratie uit 1985, uit de tijd van het album "Night". Abercrombie, zelf (zeker in die tijd) een uiterst creatief en avontuurlijk gitarist, had toen een topbezetting om zich heen: met saxofonist Michael Brecker en vurige ritmesectie Marc Johnson en Peter Erskine maakt hij moderne jazz met een lichte hang naar fusion en jazzrock. Opnametechnisch heeft de DVD qua beeld en geluid de kwaliteit van TV-opnamen uit de jaren '80: zeer acceptabel, maar zeker niet uitmuntend.

"For his recording debut, Ivo Perelman performs seven folk melodies, five of which are traditional Brazilian children's songs. A powerful tenor player whose style and sound at times recalls Albert Ayler, Gato Barbieri, and Clifford Jordan, Perelman uses the simple melodies as points of departure and places to land after his intense and fairly free but melodic improvisations. The first three songs co-feature vocalist Flora Purim, who is at the top of her game. Two of the other pieces have Perelman dueting with pianist Eliane Elias. The two bassists, John Patitucci and Buell Neidlinger, work together quite well. Don Preston takes a wild synthesizer solo on "O Cravo e a Rosa," and both drummer Peter Erskine and percussionist Airto are colorful in support. But the main star throughout the CD is Ivo Perelman, whose distinctive sound, relative ease in the falsetto register, and creative spirit were already quite impressive at this early point in his career." Optreden uit 1982 met Pastorius' 'Word Of Mouth Small Band'. Hoewel de DVD slecht gedocumenteerd is, is de beeld- en geluidskwaliteit uitstekend (het wel is een major-labelrelease). Een mooie gelegenheid om Pastorius' bijzondere basgitaarspel te bewonderen, al treedt hij niet zo heel vaak op de voorgrond. Veel soloruimte wordt overgelaten aan Brecker (t), Mintzer (ts) en de virtuoze steeldrumcapriolen van Othello Molineaux.
Album uit 1995, volgens Allmusic het beste solo-album van de ondermeer van Steps (Ahead) bekende vibrafonist.. Mike Manieri (1938) speelde op zijn 14-de al vibrafoon. Hij is er uitermate goed ingeslaagd de composities van componisten die je niet snel op jazzplaten geïnterpreteerd ziet, o.a. Leonard Bernstein en Samuel Barber, maar ook Frank Zappa, een totaal andere dimensie te geven. Daarnaast staat er eigen werk op en dragen de bandleden alhier, zoals saxofonist Joe Lovano en drummer Peter Erskine, thema's aan.
