Katona Twins is een Hongaars gitaristenduo. Het repertoire van het duo is breed, van klassiek tot tango. De broers voeren op hun eigen manier klassieke werken uit van Händel, Vivaldi en Bach, waarbij ze invloeden van andere muziekstijlen als flamenco en rock verwerken. (...) Het duo toert sinds 1998 wereldwijd en trad onder meer op in Carnegie Hall (Engeland), Lincoln Center (Verenigde Staten), Concertgebouw (Nederland), en in de Alte Oper (Duitsland). Het heeft diverse (muziek)prijzen gewonnen, waaronder de eerste prijs van het Concours International de Guitarre en Duo in Frankrijk (1993), de Culturele Prijs van Kassel (1993) en de Borletti-Buitoni Prijs (2004).

Now we have the Hungarian duo of the Katona twins possessed of the technique most others can only dream of. Their needlesharp unanimity of thought and attack is such that listening blind one might wonder how one player could possibly have so many digits. Rodrigo wrote only two works for two guitars the Tonadilla and (with orchestra) the Concierto madrigal. Both have been recorded several times but never better than here. In order to flesh out the all-Rodrigo programme the Katonas have made admirable arrangements of six piano pieces written between 1931 and 1981. These magnificently played versions for two guitars should keep Rodrigo aficionados happy enough.
