Kitaro , pseudoniem van Masanori Takahashi, Takahashi Masanori (Toyohashi, 4 februari 1953) is een Japans synthesizerspeler en componist. (...) Tot en met 2004 heeft hij wereldwijd meer dan 20 miljoen albums verkocht, en is meerdere keren voor een Grammy Award genomineerd. In 1994 ontving hij een Golden Globe voor zijn soundtrack voor de film "Heaven & Earth" van Oliver Stone, en in 2001 ontving hij een Grammy Award voor zijn album Thinking of You. (Muziekweb)
De Japanse maker van sfeerrijke synthesizermuziek wordt op dit concert uit 1991 bijgestaan door 7-koppige band met o.a. een violist en een gitarist.

Heruitgave op DVD en CD van registratie die in 2002 al op DVD was uitgebracht. Het laat een bijzondere voorstelling zien tijdens welke we Kitaro weliswaar live zien optreden, maar waar voornamelijk een dansgroep de show steelt. Kitaro's synthesizermuziek, waarin elementen uit traditionele Japanse muziek verweven zit, begeleidt een mystieke, bij vlagen magisch aandoende dansvoorstelling die ook inspiratie lijkt te putten uit eeuwenoude Oosterse cultuur. Kitaro staat zelf dus ook op het podium en er wordt ook een aantal keren ingezoomd op hem: we zien hem dus daadwerkelijk spelen op een arsenaal synthesizers.
