"After the cosmic collaboration with David Gilmour, Metallic Spheres (2010), The Orb come back down to earth with a bump for "C Batter C". Its effectively a soundtrack for a film and an exhibition. The rather beautiful-looking CD and DVD deals with the persistence of memory and the fragility of these over time. The DVD has the complete video installation from the exhibition, a moving and meandering trip of over half a century ago. This old footage is intermixed with new film from 2010, blending and overlaying the images together to see the change in locations over time and in some cases how they have hardly changed at all. The Orbs music fits wonderfully with the images, but we must turn to the CD to see if it stands on its own merits. The audio section of this release contains the original soundtrack plus various remixes. This reminds of Brian Enos 70s work, to the instrumental pieces on David Sylvians "Gone To Earth" album and to the sound of later Test Department albums. (Gary Parsons, Freq.org)
As ignorable as it is interesting'). (Jacob Haagsma, Oor)
"Recorded at the same sessions that produced last year's "The Observer In The Star House", these tracks offer a similar union of the imaginative and the inspirational, with Perry and The Orb making musical magic from the most minimal of resources. With the balance between cavernous sub-bass and delicate, itchy high-end detail judged perfectly, and the echo delays meshing neatly to create relaxed, striding grooves with restrained synth fireworks, there's plenty of space for Perry's genial, abstract ruminations on various matters. Sometimes, as on Fussball, it's little more than encouragement to 'kick the ball! win the game!'. Elsewhere, more carnally analagous stuff about planting seed in the earth mother." (Andy Gill, The Independent)
(GR Muziekbank) "The Orb virtually invented the electronic genre known as ambient house, resurrecting slower, more soulful rhythms and providing a soundtrack for early-morning ravers once the clubs closed their doors. Frontman Dr. Alex Paterson's formula was quite simple: he slowed down the rhythms of classic Chicago house and added synth work and effects inspired by '70s ambient pioneers Brian Eno and Tangerine Dream. To make the whole a bit more listenable -- as opposed to danceable -- obscure vocal samples were looped, usually providing a theme for tracks that lacked singing. The group popularized the genre by appearing on the British chart show Top of the Pops and hitting number one in the U.K. with the 1992 album U.F.Orb." (Allmusic)

"This CD comes with the 64 page story, biography & discography book Orb: The O.O.B.E Adventure written by Vanni Neri & Giorgio Campani in Italian & English language." (discogs.com)
Alex Paterson's favoriete plaatjes. "Breed scala ambientproducties: Aphex Twin, Charles Webster, Thomas Fehlman en eigen werk. Typisch Orbiaanse plaagstootjes hiertussen zijn o.a. the Chi-lites en Electric Chairs' Aqua-cover(!)." (PvS, Oor)
