Horslips is een Ierse rockband die in de jaren 70 vooral in eigen land erg succesvol was. Horslips was de eerste Ierse band die, in navolging van Britse bands als Fairport Convention en Jethro Tull, invloeden van Keltische folkmuziek verwerkte in rockmuziek. In 1980 ging de groep uiteen, om twee decennia later, naar aanleiding van een rechtszaak tegen hun oude muziekuitgeverij elkaar weer te vinden. Dit derde album uit 1974 is een van hun meest gewaardeerde. "The songs on the album are loosely based on the life of itinirent, blind harper Turlough O' Carolan , who collected and wrote many of ireland's most popular indigenous melodies. The songs add a little bit more rock edge and take out a little of the traditional irish influence that fuelled the band's earlier albums, "Dancehall Sweethearts" is still a truly excellent album. Uit 1976, samen met 'The Tain' hun sterkste. Als Jethro Tull mixt men folk met progrock, al gebruikt Horslips veel meer traditionele instrumenten. 'Power And The Glory' lijkt dan wel weer op 'Locomotive Breath', mede door het gitaarwerk.
Horslips wordt beschouwd als Ierse tegenhanger van de Britse folkrockgroep Steeley Span, maar dan wel met wat meer invloeden uit progressieve rock. Dit tweede album is hun meest ambitieuze en meest bejubelde album.
